Goldilocks and the Three Bears
By: Sebastien Braun

Our Problem: Goldilocks went into the house of the three bears without permission, ate their porridge, broke the wee little bear's chair and slept in their beds.

The challenge: Build a new chair for the wee little bear that supports his weight and keeps him off the ground.

Materials: Duplo legos for prototyping.

In this challenge, students devised different chair designs for the wee little bear. They prototyped with Duplo Legos and drew designs in their engineering journals. I loved using the legos, because their designs could be tested quickly and efficiently. There was no material waste and it encouraged them to create multiple designs. They even worked in teams on some chairs even though it was not a requirement. As you can see their results are pretty stupendous! And the best part...they all worked!
