ABOUT ENGINEERING AT HTECV
About Ms. Zoë
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." |
My name is Zoë Randall and I am thrilled to be the High Tech Elementary Chula Vista Engineering and Design teacher for K-5. I want to help students discover their own passions and inspire them to see the world through the eyes of an engineer; designing solutions, being creative and using teamwork to solve authentic problems. I have become passionate about Design Thinking and the impact of engineering principles, especially at a young age. I look forward to building an engineering program with elementary students that helps them make their ideas into a reality.
I studied media at the University of California, San Diego, developing my passion for filmmaking, and earned my B.A. in Visual Arts, Media, Film/Video. I worked as an educator for the Birch Aquarium at Scripps doing hands-on projects and experiential learning with PK-12 students. After graduating college, I spent a year in France teaching English as a second language to primary school children in a variety of schools. I developed my passion for teaching when I came to High Tech High in 2007, building a multimedia program for grades 6-8 at High Tech Middle Media Arts. I taught there for 6 years, and during that time, I earned my CA credential in Art and my Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership from the HTH Graduate School of Education. In 2013, I stepped out of the classroom to work with the HTH GSE to develop our tours program, which invited more than 2000 educators to our HTH schools. Over the years, I've also run professional development workshops in the U.S. and Canada for educators in PBL and worked closely with critical friends from Hawaii, Virginia and Canada. |
